“The Lights and Sounds of Christmas” Renovo Community Choir to Hold Winter Concert

RENOVO – The Renovo Area Community Choir invites you to their Winter Concert, The Lights and Sounds of Christmas, on December 1, 2024, at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, 7th Street, Renovo. Directed by Patricia Lacy and accompanied by Brandon Kahley, music teacher at Bucktail Area High School, the choir is excited to bring the holiday spirit to life.

The concert opens with “Bring in Christmas Day,” where bells ring out in festive cheer. A unique rendition of “The Little Drummer Boy” will include vocal drumming, adding a dynamic touch to this classic favorite. The choir will blend “The First Noel” with a gentle arrangement of “Little Star,” we are reminded of the light that shone on that cold winter night. In “Mary, Mary,” the basses lead a lively tune as angels and shepherds join in Mary’s lullaby.

“Do You Hear What I Hear?” We are invited to pray for peace as the child sleeping in the night will bring us goodness and light. The powerful “In the First Light” takes us on a journey from the birth of Christ to the cross, and ultimately, the promise of his second coming when he comes to rule the earth!

Returning soloist Avery Stimpson will perform the beloved “O Holy Night,” her second appearance at our Christmas concert., As one of the many surprises in store for the audience, they will be entertained by some very special Kris Kringle Kids. Shhh…we can’t tell!

Courtney Billings will perform “Merry Christmas, Darling,” sharing her wish to celebrate Christmas and the New Year with loved ones.

The concert’s second half begins with the lively “Feliz Navidad,” followed by the gentle “Light the World with a Candle.” “Silver Bells,” a classic recorded by Bing Crosby in 1950, brings a taste of Christmas in the city. The spirited tarantella, “Dominick, the Donkey,” tells the story of a little donkey helping Santa navigate the hills of Italy delivering presents. In a nostalgic 50s rock rhythm, Santa heads down the chimney in “Down, Down the Chimney.”

The choir will close with a medley of holiday songs, inviting the audience to join in for “A Bit of Holiday Cheer.”

After concert, please join us in the fellowship hall for light refreshments provided by the Renovo Area Women’s Club.

Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, and Happy New Year! Thank you for celebrating with us—we look forward to seeing you there!
