Wildcat Softball Downs Williamsport 5-2
WILLIAMSPORT-The Lady Wildcats embarked on a journey to Williamsport on Monday and emerged triumphant with a hard-fought 5-2 victory.
Williamsport managed to score their only two runs in the top of the first inning, capitalizing on an error, followed by a single to left field, and later a fielder’s choice.
Central Mountain found their rhythm when Camdyn Weaver drew a crucial walk, paving the way for Maddie Hardy who followed suit with another walk. The momentum shifted as Harley Kunes stepped up to the plate and hammered a two-out double to the center field fence, bringing Weaver home and narrowing the lead to 2-1, a score that held until the seventh inning.
In the pivotal top of the seventh, Katelyn Bowman ignited the offense, reaching base on a two-base error. Maddie Hardy then delivered a timely base hit, setting the stage for Harley Kunes, who blasted a double to drive in a run. The hitting continued as Madisyn Wian connected with a clutch single, and Cora Myers sealed the deal with a two-run home run soaring over the left field fence, propelling the Wildcats to a commanding 5-2 lead.
Williamsport fought valiantly but failed to score in the bottom of the inning.
With this win, the Wildcats’ record improves to 7-1, and they eagerly anticipate their next challenge as they face off against Jersey Shore in a home contest Tuesday.
