Economic Partnership celebrates ‘Boxes of Hope’ ribbon cutting

LOCK HAVEN – Boxes of Hope for Breast Cancer, a local nonprofit organization that assists and advocates for women with breast cancer, celebrated their ribbon cutting celebration this morning at their new office on West Main Street.

“We are excited to be in our new office in downtown Lock Haven, which will enable us to serve breast cancer warriors in more tangible ways.” “We look forward to collaborating with local resources to better serve the breast cancer patients in our community,” said Boxes of Hope Founder Traci Fotorny.

“With her vision, she will probably be in another location shortly,” said Kira Rosamilia, Chamber and Tourism Director.

Forward thinking, Traci is hoping to collaborate with local counselors and even tattoo parlors around the area.

“If they want a tattoo to cover their scars, here are our local tattoo places, if you want a salon to shave your head for free I can give them a coupon and she will even do it privately,” Traci said.

A local photographer also donated photo sessions in memory of her mother who passed away from breast cancer.

“We started out just sending care packages and mastectomy pillows…and so far we have sent 1,228 and 829 mastectomy pillows to women in 48 states and Canada, and we supply the local cancer center in Williamsport with care packages and mastectomy pillows as well,” said Traci.

As well, support group meetings and counseling sessions are being planning for the future of Boxes of Hope.
