STATE COLLEGE-The Central Mountain girls swim team had a fantastic District 6 Championship meet. At the end of the 2 day event, the girls finished in 2nd place, had 10 new PR’s, 3 broken records (Ana Persun, Camryn Bair, Abrianna Hosley), and most likely a state qualifier. Camryn Bair had 2 very impressive races with very fast times over the 2 day event, but has to wait until all 9 District have completed to confirm that her times qualify for the PIAA AAA State Championships held at Bucknell University.
On day 1, Ana Persun was the first Wildcat to take to the pool in the McCoy Natatorium on the campus of PSU. Persun would race to a 4th place finish and new school record in a time of 2:01.38. Gabriella Hosley would be the next Widcat to swim finishing 5th in the 200 IM in 2:22.18. In the 50 Freestyle, Bair battled State College’s Molly Workman and Grace Carrington all the way to the finish. Bair finished 3rd in 23.93, which should qualify her on time to the state meet. Senior, Maia Crowell swam a PR and finished 6th in 28.60. In the 100 Fly, Ana Persun finished in 3rd in a time of 1:01.21 and Lily McWilliams finished 6th in 1:09.80. The final race of day 1 was the 200 Free Relay. The team of Bair, Hosley, Hosley, Persun finished 2nd in 1:45.52.
Day 2 started with the 100 Freestyle. Lily McWilliams swam a PR of 1:03.53 to finish 6th. In the 500 Free, Abrianna Hosley broke the school record and finished 5th in 5:42.10. Hosley quickly refocused as she had to follow that swim up with the 100 Backstroke. Hosley hit another PR finishing 5th in 1:04.72. In the 100 Breaststroke, Bair had a phenomenal race dropping 3 seconds and finished 2nd in 1:05.69, which should qualify her on time to the state meet. Gabriella Hosley also had an amazing race. Hosley dropped 2 seconds and finished 3rd in 1:10.77. The final race of the meet was the 400 Freestyle Relay. The Wildcat team of Bair, Persun, Hosley, and Hosley finished in 2nd place in 3:51.44.
