Central Mountain Swimming Teams Secure Senior Night Victories
LOCK HAVEN-The Central Mountain Swimming Teams hosted their first home meets of the season Saturday afternoon. Central Mountain’s home meets are held at LHU’s Zimmerli pool. Saturday afternoon offered a packed house to celebrate senior night. The teams this year had four seniors, Colby Bakaj, Maia Crowell, Ana Persun, and Jaylyn Wadsworth. The crowd went crazy as it came down to the last event for the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Wildcats added another victory to their season with a score of 82-76. The Wildcat boys won uncontested with an overall score of 101-0. Jersey Shore didn’t have any boys to compete, so the Central Mountain boys were just racing the clock.
Big individual wins for senior, Ana Persun. Persun won both the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. We had two other athletes scoring big against shore. Freshman, Gabriella Hosley, won the 200 IM and the 100 breastroke. As well as Junior, Camryn Bair, winning the 50 and 100 freestyle. The Central Mountain girls also put up two winning relays. Both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays consisted of Persun, A. Hosley, G. Hosley, and Bair.
Two athletes won both of their individual events. Sophmore, Raiden Newcomer, won the 100 and 200 Freestyle. As well as junior, Jonathan Hughes, won the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Other wins of the night include Rhys Swift (200 IM), Cory Matejovich (50 Freestyle), and Bryce Warren (100 Breastroke). Coach Bair put together two competitve relays to get the crowd going. The 200 medley relay of Kaluzny, Warren, Swift, and Newcomer came out on top. In the last boys relay of the night they were only seperated by .05 of a second. The 200 freestyle relay of Matejovich, Swift, Warren, and Wunder took the victory.
Continuing on their winning streak the girls team now holds a record of 9-1 for the season. The boys move to 8-2. Next both the Wildcats teams are on the road to Shamokin and Williamsport. Shamokin’s dual meet will be held on 02/06 starting at 4:30p.m. and the Williamsport Coaches Invitational will be held on 02/10 at 11a.m.
