Bloomsburg hands Phoenix 26-21 loss

BLOOMSBURG-The Sugar Valley Rural Charter wrestling squad dropped their fourth match in a row, as Bloomsburg handed the Phoenix a 26-21 defeat on the host senior night. The loss on Wednesday night dropped the Phoenix season record to 10-15. 

The Phoenix were coming off the North Penn-Liberty Dual tournament last Saturday, where they defeated Columbia-Montour Vo Tech 31-30 and then Coudersport 24-15 in their first two matches. The Phoenix then dropped their final three dual meets in the tourney, as they fell to Williamson 48-24, Shamokin 33-24 and the host North Penn-Liberty 42-36. 

In the duals tournament, Jarren McCloskey (133) went a perfect 5-0 with three falls. Wyatt Conoway (139), Cameron Quick (141) and Cayden Weaver (177) all went 4-1 on the day, as. Quick and Weaver both recorded four falls on the day. Koda Mincer (285) was 2-0 with a fall, while Leroy Culvey (107) and Brandon Galentine (215) were both 2-3 and Levi Galentine (285) was 1-2 for the day. The Phoenix had to deal with the lack of numbers, as they had six weights they had no one to compete at those weights. 

In the dual meet against the Panthers, Cameron Quick was a winner by fall and Cayden Weaver posted a win by decision. Leroy Culvey and Levi Galentine both received forfeit wins. The Phoenix had to forfeit 121 and 152, while Jarren McCloskey, Wyatt Conoway and Brandon Galentine suffered defeats in the dual meet. 

Quick leads the team in wins, as he now 25-5 on the season, while McCloskey is 23-8 for the season. Other Phoenix records up to this point of the season are Conoway (15-8), Levi Galentine (16-10), Cayden Weaver (16-11), Mincer (5-2), Culvey (8-8) and Brandon Galentine (4-16).
