Wildcats in third, Four advance into semifinals

ALLDALE- The Central Mountain Wildcats find themselves sitting in third place after the first day of the 44-team Ultimate Warrior Tournament at West Branch High School. The Wildcats had Dalton Perry (139), Griffin Walizer (145), Jacob Weaver (172) and Rocco Serafini (215) all advancing into the semifinals Saturday morning. 

Serafini went 4-0 on the day, while Perry, Walizer and Weaver all were 3-0 for the opening day. The Wildcats have six wrestlers still alive in the consolations, as Gavin Heverly (107), Aiden Kunes (121), Patrick Tarantella (127), Hunter Donley (160), and Bryce Brungard (189) all lost their championship quarterfinal round matches. Carnell Noone (139) lost his first match, but came back and won three in the consolations to remain alive in the tourney. 

The Wildcats had five wrestlers eliminated from the tourney, as Caden Stoner (114), Jaggar Pardoe (121), Dalton McDermott (160), Luke Ananea (152) and Wyatt Kramer (172) all suffered their second loss in consolations and thus were eliminated. 

Heverly, Kunes, Tarantella, Donley, Brungard and Ananea all posted 2-1 records on the day, while Stoner, Pardoe, McDermott and Kramer all went 1-2 on the day. 

As far as seedings are concerned, Perry and Walizer are both the top seeds at their weight, while Serafini is second seeded. Weaver is the third seed, while Brungard is seeded fourth at his weight. Heverly and Kunes are seeded fifth at their weights, while Tarantella is sixth seeded and Donley is the seeded eighth. 

District 10 Class AA power Reynolds leads the tournament, as the unbeaten Raiders have 113 points and six wrestlers in the semifinals. Mifflin County is in second place with 106 points and three semifinalists, followed close behind by the Wildcats with 105 points and their four semifinalists.The remaining top 10 teams are Port Allegheny (81 pts), United (78.5), Central York (72.5), Bentworth (70), Canton (69.5), Mount Union (67) and Peters Township (62.5). 

The Wildcats do not have wrestlers entered at 133, 152 and 285, as both Luke Simcox and Giovanni Tarantella are both sitting out the tournament. There is no one at 133, as Kunes and Tarantella are both down to 121 and 127.
