LHU Women’s Track & Field compete at Spartan Invitational to open 2024
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Lock Haven women’s track and field team had a strong showing in its first meet in 2024, competing in the Spartan Invitational on Friday afternoon (Jan. 12) hosted by Saint Thomas Aquinas College in Staten Island, New York.
Competing inside the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, the Bald Eagles secured four top-10 finishers on the afternoon against a highly competitive field.
For the sprinters, Aubrey Sechrist (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) secured a top-10 finish in the 500-meter dash, placing ninth with a time of 1.22.18.
For the distance group, Megan Lysek Hagy (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) just missed the top-10 in the 3000-meter run, placing 11th with a time of 10:51.43.
The 4×200-meter relay team of Liberty Gearinger (Berwick, Pa./Central Columbia), Hunter Barger (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain), Megan Mengel (Reading, Pa./Wyomissing) and Samantha Trench (Brick, N.J./Ocean Township) placed eighth with a time of 1:49.94.
Kiersten Lloyd (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion), Barger, Sechrist and Lysek Hagy teamed up in the 4000-meter distance medley relay to place eighth with a time of 13:05.62.
In field events, Reagan Irons (Tyrone, Pa./Tyrone) led the way with a 7th-place finish in the high jump with a PSAC mark of 5-1. Irons just missed the top-10 in the triple jump, placing 11th with a mark of 33-5.25.
Julia Beck (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) added an 11th-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 41-7.
Clarissa Davis (York, Pa./Central York) flirted with the top-10 in the shot put as she placed 12th with a mark of 34-11.75.

Gwen Lloyd (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) is set to compete in at the Nittany Lion Challenge tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 13), hosted by Penn State University.
The Bald Eagles are back in action on Friday, January 19 when they travel to Youngstown, Pa. to compete in the Youngstown Collegiate Invitational. Lock Haven will continue competition on Saturday, Jan. 20 when they send athletes to the River Hawk Invite in Selinsgrove, Pa.
