Lady Bucks edge Harmony, Mak Wagner named Offensive MVP
By Bees O’Brien
ALLPORT- The Harmony Lady Owls managed just 5 total points in their semifinal loss to Bald Eagle Area. That game included a scoreless second half, but on Friday afternoon Harmony would put forth a strong effort against Bucktail.
Lady Bucks’ head coach Suellen Wagner was operating with a depleted roster, but she still had senior Mak Wagner.
Wagner, who led Bucktail with 12 points in the Lady Bucks previous night’s loss to tournament hosts West Branch would light up the Lady Owls for 18 points as her team squeaked out a 30-26 victory.
Bucktail jumped out to a 12-5 first quarter lead, but Harmony would outscore the Lady Bucks 8-7 in the second quarter and a deadlocked 7-7 third quarter would bring the score to 26-20.
Bucktail’s slim fourth quarter lead would get slimmer thanks to a strong effort from the Lady Owls. Harmony outscored Bucktail 6-4, but it would be just shy of overtaking the Lady Bucks.
Wagner would be named West Branch Tournament Offensive MVP for the second straight season.
Beck led Harmony with 13 points.
Bucktail, now 4-4 will next be in action on January 3 when they host St. John Neumann in Mid Penn Conference action.
