CM Swimming Teams Return Wealth of Talent Prepare for Season Opener Saturday

LOCK HAVEN – The Central Mountain swim teams, boys and girls return a wealth of talent this season with 12 letter winners and four seniors. The team is made up of 20 swimmers, 11 girls and 9 boys. Coach Scott Bair returns for year number four as the head coach. He will be assisted by Carol Matheney, Eryn Bartlett and Maddison Bair this season. The teams have been busy practicing at Zimmerli Pool on the Campus of Lock Haven University and at the LHU YMCA pool.

When asked about the goals for this year’s team Coach Bair said, “I think it is very possible to win 70-80% of our meets again this year.  I expect that we should have at least half of our team qualify for Districts and 1-2 Qualify and place at States.  As always, I expect a battle with Williamsport, Danville, and Bellefonte.  All three teams have talented swimmers.  Williamsport and Danville always have incredible depth and can fill all the lanes in every event.”

In addition, the coach said he hopes members of the team can have many individual PR’s this season as well as break Central Mountain School records as they have the last three seasons.

Seniors on the team this year are Maia Crowell, Ana Persun, Jaylyn Powers and Colby Bakaj. Returning Letter Winners – 12 (Camryn Bair, Maia Crowell, Abrianna Hosley, Lily McWilliams, Elizabeth Nestor, Ana Persun, Jonathan Hughes, Neil Kaluzny, Raiden Newcomer, Rhys Swift, Bryce Warren, Owen Wunder)

The teams will first be in action Saturday Dec 2 at an Invitational at Altoona High School.
