LOCK HAVEN, PA — The Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven took up a 20 Acts of Kindness Challenge to celebrate turning 20 this year.

The club’s most recent good turn was to give $2,000 back to the community to address the basic needs of food, beds, safe shelter, and caring. Rotarians voted for their favorite worthy causes, and the club donated $500 each of the top four choices.

Seen from left are Marianne Lotfi, president of the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven, with Jackie Condor and Delanie Bartholomew representing Merit House men’s shelter; Traci Fotorny, president of Boxes of Hope, a program that sends care packages to breast cancer patients; Laura Orndorf, president of Sleep in Heavenly Peace — Lock Haven; and Dr. Amy Downes, director of Haven Cupboard.

The club raised the money during the 2022-23 Rotary year, and credits everyone who supported its projects and fundraisers. Throughout that same year, the club and individual Rotarians gave close to $13,000 in time and money.

And so far in 2023, the club’s Acts of Kindness Challenge is at 24 and counting!
