LH Volleyball suffers defeat at Kutztown
KUTZTOWN, PA – The Lock Haven volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (21-25, 15-25, 21-25) defeat at the hands of Kutztown University on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 25) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division road match.
The Bald Eagled fall to 8-6 overall and 3-4 in the PSAC East, while Kutztown improves to 8-11 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
Lock Haven’s best set came in the first, where they recorded their match high in kills with nine, but ultimately fell 25-21.
The score was mirrored in favor of Kutztown in the third set (25-21), but KU stole the momentum with a dominant second set (25-15).
Kutztown powered the match with strong serving, finishing with a match-high 10 aces. KU finished with a hit percentage over 30.
Kelly Gaston (Centennial, Colo./Grandview) led the Bald Eagles offense with four kills and 16 assists. Evie Jane Rembold (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) and Emma Kelly (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Ranch) also added four kills.
Gaston also made an impact on defense, finishing with a team-high seven digs. Natalie Acevedo (Camuy, Puerto Rico/Paula Freire Social Justice Charter School) and Kyleigh McDermit (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) assisted on a block.
