LH’s Ciaccia scores twice to lead Women’s Soccer past Seton Hill

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Evelyn Ciaccia (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) scored a pair of goals in the first half to lead the Lock Haven women’s soccer team to a 2-1 non-conference victory in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East-West crossover match against Seton Hill University on a rainy Saturday afternoon (Oct. 14) at Hubert Jack Stadium.

The Bald Eagles (3-8-1 overall) took a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute thanks to Ciaccia’s first goal of the contest. Ciaccia used a pair of touches to break through the Giffins’ defense and fire past the keeper for her team-leading sixth goal.

The Griffins (3-7-1 overall) struck with the equalizer in the 37th minute off a successful corner opportunity to make it 1-1.

However, Ciaccia drew a penalty in the box and found the back of the net for the second time on the PK to give the Bald Eagles a 2-1 lead.

The Griffins outshot the Bald Eagles 16-6, but the Lock Haven defense was impenetrable, especially down the stretch as Seton Hill pushed for the tie during the final five minutes.

In net for The Haven, Megan Miller (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) finished with four saves, including back-to-back highlight real saves in the second half to maintain the one-goal league.
