CM girls’ soccer falls to Lady Seals
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – Central Mountain girls’ soccer coach Ryan Veltri said his team’s effort was there all night, but the visiting Selinsgrove Lady Seals went home with a 6-0 Tuesday night win.
Coach Veltri paid his respects to a talented Lady Seals’ team and said for his team the goal was to battle the visitors, “to work really hard and find little things to help us through the rest of the season.” His squad, he said, achieved that goal as “they battled, worked hard.” He said he was proud of their effort and lauded the work of some of his younger reserves and credited senior leadership for their role in their effort.
Selinsgrove, now 10-4-1, jumped to a 3-0 lead by midway through the first half and added three more goals early in the second half to open a 6-0 lead. The contest was much more even for the bulk of the second half.
The Lady Seals were led by three goals from Abagail Parise. The visitors out-shot the home team by an 11-1 clip and corner kicks were 2-each. CM freshman Cora Seyler got some work in goal in the second half and picked up a save in her scoreless appearance.
The Lady Wildcats dropped to 2-9 on the season and will be home Thursday for a contest with Altoona.
Selinsgrove took the JV game by an 8-0 count.
