Wildcat soccer takes down ‘Shore, 7-1; now 7-6 on the season

JERSEY SHORE, PA – Monday’s day off from school did not affect the Central Mountain Wildcat boys’ soccer team at all, notching a 7-1 road win over rival Jersey Shore.

Traveling to Jersey Shore for a PHAC matchup, it took only 7 minutes for the Wildcats to get going. A great cross from Jack Grieco found the head of Peyton Jones for the opening goal.

The rest of the half saw possession and opportunity for CM. Griffin Confer was able to find the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Before the half, the Wildcats added another. While the Bulldogs were passing backwards, the Wildcats pressured the keeper to force a poor clearance. Zane Cooper won the head ball directly back to the pressuring Talbot, who turned and beat the keeper for a 3-0 victory.

The second half was more of the same. Talbot completed his hat trick with two great goals to start the second half. Lincoln Breon really padded the box score, scoring two goals in the second half while assisting on two as well. The junior played very well, starting at left back for the first time this season, but still finding ways forward towards his normal wing position.

The Wildcats (7-6) are back at home on Wednesday for Senior Night, kickoff at 7 p.m.
