Keystone 10s take sectional title; off to the Poconos
ATHENS, PA – The Keystone 10-year-old all-star squad rolled to the Section 3 title with a 7-0 championship game win over Selinsgrove Thursday evening. The victory finished a three-game run through the sectional, defeating Selinsgrove for the second time. With the win Keystone qualifies for the Pennsylvania state championships to begin next Tuesday, July 25 in the Poconos, the games to be played at a variety of fields, including in East Stroudsburg.
It was a team win for Keystone on Thursday, led by starting pitcher Catrer Leone. He went 5.2 innings, surrendering just one hit, striking out five and walking two, facing 20 batters. Giovanni Cej came on to get the final out. Their defense played a clean game behind them with no errors.
Brooks Warner led a 9-hit attack with a single and double. Adam Meyer had a double and singles came from Dylan McDermott, Cej, Jaxon Orndorf, Ryker Packech (one RBI), Karter Markle (two RBIs) and Deagen Stover (2 RBIs). Rylan Bathurst knocked in two runs.
