Keystone 10s claim district title over Montoursville, 11-5
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Keystone 10-year-old all-star squad came home a winner in a big way Tuesday evening, earning an 11-5 victory over Montoursville on the big stage, Little League’s Lamade Stadium. The win gave Keystone the District 12 title and a berth in the Section 3 tournament starting July 17 in Athens.
Carter Leone started on the mound and earned the win, his third in three starts, as Keystone went 3-0 to win the district crown. Leone went 4.1 innings, giving up six hits and three runs, striking out four and walking two. He had relief help from Giovanni Cej, .2 of an inning, and Adam Meyer, a hitless, scoreless inning with two strike outs.
Keystone ended with six hits but benefitted from 11 walks surrendered by Montoursville pitchers. Leone had a double and an RBI. Deagen Stover. had a single and three RBIs. Rylin Bathurst, Brooks Warner and Stafford Ley each had a single and an RBI and Dylan McDermott had a single.
Keystone led throughout taking a 3-2 lead after two and pulling away with four runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.
With the title, Keystone for the second year in a row claimed the district crowns for the 10, 11 and 12-year-old age groups. The Keystone seniors also took the District 12 title this year.
