William Michael “Bill” Marino, Jr., 83, of Mt. Joy, formerly of Lock Haven, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at UPMC Lititz Hospital, Lititz, PA.
Born in Renovo on September 20, 1939, he was the son of the late William M. And Anna Irene DeMarte Marino.
Bill was a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School, Renovo.
In September of 1957, he joined the United States Marine Corps, serving until his Honorable Discharge in September of 1960.
After returning from service, Bill began his lifetime career as a local banker, attending ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking, and retiring in 2001 after almost forty years of service.
Known by many of his acquaintances as “Mayor” of Lock Haven, Bill was very community committed. He was a board member of The Lock Haven University Foundation; Clinton County Community Foundation, Inc; Infant Development Program, Inc; Salvation Army; Clinton County Economic Partnership; Clinton County Loan Administration Board. Bill held dear to his heart and was very involved with the Marine Corps fundraiser, Toys For Tots.
A longtime member of the Clinton Country Club, golf was a passion of Bill’s and where he found much of his social life with his friends. He had a love for music and enjoyed entertaining others with songs he would sing and play on his piano. Most of all, Bill was a kind-hearted person who cared deeply for his family and enjoyed the time he spent with them.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Valerie Ann (Darryl) Eberly of Florida; his beloved life partner, Karen D. Cowger of Mt. Joy; two step-sons, Mark (Amanda) Cowger of Mt. Joy and Matt (Erin) Cowger of Millersburg; three grandchildren: Adam (Karen) Day, Erin (Eric) Walker and Tanner (Natalie) Day; his step-grandchildren: Charlize and Thomas Cowger and Dane and Lyla Cowger; and his great-grandchildren, Addie Jane Day, Elliot and Ezra Walker, with two more expected. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Anthony Marino.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 12 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service.
Private burial will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery, Lock Haven.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Lock Haven University Foundation (LHUF), memo William Marino, Jr. Scholarship.
