Obituary
Richard Bert Dethmers, 69, of Kenneland Drive, died Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Duke University Hospital. Born April 14, 1954 in New Brunswick County, NJ, he was the son of the late Joyce Newton Dethmers and Vernon Dethmers.
He was Vice President of hospital administration at Memorial Hospital in Easton, MD before moving to Henderson where he was Vice President of Maria Parham Hospital. Richard served as a board member of the Raleigh Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and was a former member of the Henderson Kiwanis Club. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church Henderson where a memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 4:00 P.M. by Rev. David Fuentes.
Richard is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 45 years, Iris Castellon Dethmers of the home; a son, Christopher Richard Dethmers (Lindsy) of Henderson; two daughters, Andrea Nicole Dethmers and Lisa Aurora Pope (Michael), all of Oxford; six grandchildren, Rebecca Dethmers (Dennis Boone), Isabella Dethmers, Austin Dethmers, Aurora Pope, Rosalie Pope and Evie Pope; a great granddaughter, Brenley Boone; a sister, Nancy Dethmers of Grand Rapids, MI; and two brothers, Daniel Dethmers (Judy) of Grand Rapids, MI and Doug Dethmers (Janine) of Warwick, NY.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church.
