Wildcats at 10-0 after 9-1 win at Milton
MILTON, PA – The Central Mountain baseball team is halfway through its regular season and so far, so good. A veteran Wildcat team moved to 10-0 on the season, 7-0 in the Heartland Conference with a 9-1 win at Milton (2-5) on Friday.
Central Mountain scored early (three in the first inning) and late (two in the fifth, four in the sixth) to continue their perfect record which sees them atop the Heartland Conference and the top-ranked team in all of District 6.
Six different ‘Cats led the offense, junior Kevin Grenninger going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Fellow junior Elek Fravel hit Central Mountain’s first homerun of the year, a 2-run dinger in the fifth inning. Senior Levi Schlesinger continued his recent hot hitting, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Singles came from Cru Stover, Braylen Corter and Kelvin Probst.
Meanwhile the CM pitchers continued to dominate. This time it was Brady Myers and Dallas Alexander combining on a 4-hitter. Myers went the first five, giving up three hits, no runs, striking out five and walking one. The lefty Alexander finished up, going two innings, giving up one hit, one run, walking one and striking out two.
The Wildcat win sets up a crucial game at Mill Hall Community Park on Monday, the opponent Selinsgrove. CM sits atop the Heartland with its 7-0 mark, the Seals a game behind at 6-1, 8-2 overall. The Wildcats downed the Seals by a 7-3 score in their first meeting on March 29.
