City council okays summertime proposals

LOCK HAVEN, PA – The calendar says March but Lock Haven City Council spent a portion of its Monday night meeting giving its collective okay to multiple outdoor, warm-weather proposals.

Two of those involved downtown restaurants. Shawn Dale from the Old Corner received council permission to close off a portion of Grove Street from Memorial Day through Labor Day, specifically from 3 p.m. each Friday through midnight each Saturday. Dale said the area will be set up for dining and music, “things people like to do outdoors.”

Council okayed that request, plus one from Chris Dowd of the Main Street Grill. He was given permission to place dining tables in the newly renovated Fallon Alley, the time frame Memorial Day to Labor Day. It was noted a walkway space would be maintained for through pedestrian traffic.

Steve Getz and Carol Cillo from Lock Haven JAMS received council permission for street closures and open container allowances for their event running from Aug. 10 – 12. They also received an okay to put up a banner over Main Street  in the weeks leading up to the annual event.

Kira Rosamilia, Downtown Lock Haven Inc. manager, got the ok for use of Triangle Park, the Main Street municipal parking lot and the closing of Main Street for the annual Best of Clinton County event scheduled for June 17.

Council also gave approval from Eric Brungard to use the city’s Peddie Park in Allison Township for wildland fire training; dates would be March 18 and 25.

City manager Greg Wilson relayed word that the long delayed reopening of the indoor swimming pool at the Lock Haven Regional YMCA could happen as soon as this week.
