Process underway for Clinton County’s May primary election

LOCK HAVEN, PA – The petition circulation period began this week for Clinton County’s May 16 municipal election. Candidates have through March 7 to collect sufficient signatures to get their names on the May ballot.

Meanwhile county voter registrar Maria Boileau on Friday reported current voter registration figures. They show the Republican Party maintaining its substantial lead over the Democrats, 12,071 to 6,711. Overall there are 21549 registered voters in the county, but only Republicans and Democrats can vote in Pennsylvania’s “closed” spring primary.

The last date to register to vote prior to the primary is May 1.

The spring ballot is headlined by multiple countywide races, including county commissioner and all three county district justice positions.

Registrar Boileau recently had her office relocated from the Piper Building’s third floor to the first floor, just inside the building’s main entrance. The county is also in the process of hiring an assistant for her.
