Williamsport woman arrested in animal cruelty case

MONTOURSVILLE, PA – State police in Lycoming County have arrested a Williamsport woman and charged her with animal cruelty. Police said Miranda Waldman, 34, confessed to being the owner of the dog which was found outside the Hobby Lobby store on E. Third Street in Loyalsock Township on Feb. 3.

Police said they were dispatched to that site and found a German Shepard locked in a crate. The crate was in the parking lot along the west side of the building, with a bag of food on top. The dog appeared malnourished, police said, and laying in feces. Troopers transported the dog to the Lycoming County SPCA.

After several tips from citizens and further investigation, police said they determined that the dog belonged to Waldman and interviewed the accused at the police station where she confessed to being the owner of the dog and leaving it at the location of the incident. Police said due to the dog being subjected to frigid temperature/winds and the dog’s overall physical condition, their investigation is being carried as animal cruelty and felony charges have been filed.
