LH Women’s Basketball Rolls to Big PSAC East Win at Home
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Alana Robinson (Rockaway, N.J./Pope John Paul II) scored a game-high 16 points and Carly Fitzmorris (Hamburg, N.J./Pope John XXIII) netted a career-high 15 points, and the Lock Haven University women’s basketball team (8-13, 6-10 PSAC East) rolled by visiting Shepherd University (0-21, 0-16 PSAC East), 70-43, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.
Robinson and Fitzmorris were two of three Bald Eagles who scored in double figures. Taylor Leidy (Alexandria, Pa./Juniata Valley) was the other, adding 12 points.
Robinson pushed one step closer to history thanks to a two-block effort. The rookie now has a PSAC-best 46 blocks on the season, which ties the all-time Lock Haven women’s basketball single-season record.
Robinson led the way with eight rebounds and added four assists. Fitzmorris also had five boards and three assists.
Kylie Metzger (Roaring Spring, Pa./Central Martinsburg) finished with seven points and five rebounds.
Overall, Lock Haven shot 50 percent from the floor and the Bald Eagles benefitted from 29 points off the bench. LHU forced Shepherd into 19 turnovers.
With the win, Lock Haven moved to 5-5 at home and the Bald Eagles snapped a seven-game losing streak. For The Haven, the second half of PSAC Eastern play began Wednesday at Bloomsburg University, and today’s victory was hugely important in keeping the Bald Eagles push toward the postseason in line.
