Clinton jobless rate continues downward trend
HARRISBURG, PA – Clinton County’s jobless rate improved slightly during the month of December, according to information released Tuesday by the state Department of Labor & Industry.
The December unemployment rate for the county was 4.2%, down from the 4.5% reading in November. There was an estimated 700 county residents out of work in December. In December 2021, the county unemployment rate was 5.0%.
Adams County had the lowest December unemployment rate in the Commonwealth at 2.8%. Clinton’s 4.2% ranked 31st, and the highest rate among the 67 counties was Forest at 5.7%.
For the seven day period ending Jan. 14, 2023, the state reported that 53 county residents filed for initial unemployment benefits. Approximately half of those were in the manufacturing and construction field. The continued unemployment number for the same time frame was 434 county residents, up slightly from 426 one year ago.
