LHU: Mummert paces Bald Eagles in home-opener against California (Pa.)
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Lock Haven swimming team hosted California (Pa.) in the Bald Eagles home-opener on Saturday afternoon. A number of Lock Haven swimmers turned in strong individual performances in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) dual meet at Zimmerli Pool.
Lauren Mummert (York, Pa./Northeastern) led the way for the Bald Eagles in dominating fashion as she finished first in three different events. Mummert won the 200-yard IM in 2:22.74, the 200-yard back in 2:25.37 and also hit a PSAC qualifying mark with a time of 2:19.45 in the 200-yard butterfly. Mummert outpaced the field by eight seconds to bring home the win in the 200-yard fly.
Sydney Houck (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) came in just behind Mummert with a time of 2:25.24 in the 200 IM. She also placed second in the 200-yard backstroke and the 100-yard breaststroke.
Makenzie Eades (Derry, Pa./Derry) was also strong on the day and took second in the 500-yd freestyle with a time of 6:03.45. Eades took second again later in the day with a 1:00.01 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Despite the strong individual performances, the Bald Eagles fell to the Vulcans, 149-89, in the team score.
