County buys Mill Hall property as site for new District Justice office

LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Clinton County Commissioners moved ahead on Thursday with recently announced plans to buy a property in Mill Hall, the site to ultimately house a new Magisterial District Court office for the Mill Hall area. The commissioners voted unanimously to approve a sales agreement with Kevin and Sandra Conrad for the property at 379-381 Beech Creek Avenue, the amount $164,000. Board chairman Miles Kessinger said funding will come from federally provided American Rescue Plan dollars.

Kessinger, following up his comments made Monday disclosing the purchase plan, said that due to conditions at the present adjacent district justice building, the county has to build a new structure. He said the carrying out of the plan “may be two years down the road.” He said a consultant told the county there will be a savings by building at that site, where there already are utilities, as opposed to finding a new plot.

The Mill Hall office is the busiest of the three county DJ offices. It presently houses District Judge John Maggs and four clerks.

Commissioner Angela Harding noted one tenant remains in the building the county is acquiring and that party will be given time to relocate.
