Clinton County Historical Society, into second century, offers thanks
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Clinton County Historical Society recently recognized several recent achievements at its Heisey House Museum on E. Water Street in Lock Haven.
CCHS President Bonnie Hannis thanked those in attendance and all who have supported the Society over the past 100 years and said the Society is now preparing for the next 100. Last Thursday’s recognition included:
– The dedication of a Memorial Brick Patio in front of the Society’s Heisey House Museum. Designed and laid out by Paul Rizzo and his son Joey of Rizzo’s Greenhouse, the new patio features 150 specially engraved bricks with the names of the Society’s 99 charter members, as well as others who purchased a commemorative brick to mark the CCHS’s 100th anniversary.
– Immediate past president Jo Ann Bowes was recognized and honored with a special mini-garden placed at the center of the brick patio. Jo Ann is the Society’s longest-serving president, having led the organization from 2005 to 2020.
– The Society recognized the donation of a large Annie Snyder painting by Steve and Pamela Poorman; the donation of another Annie Snyder nature painting by Bobby Maguire; and the contributions of a number of people who supported the restoration of another Annie Snyder painting in the Historical Society’s collection of works by the local artist.
– The Society highlighted the recent planting of a Dogwood tree in the Museum’s front yard in memory of long-time maintenance employee Vernon Welch. Several members of the Welch family were on hand this evening for the dedication.
– And local Boy Scout Drake Probst with Troop 66 of Woolrich was recognized for his work to restore the gazebo in the Museum’s side yard, part of his Eagle Scout project.
