Lock Haven’s Piper-Harmon Playground due for improvements
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The City’s Piper-Harmon Playground is shut down for the duration of summer as the nearly century-old park at E. Bald Eagle and Race Streets is due for some upgrades funded through Community Development Block Grant money.
The improvements will replace the current swing sets and install rubber fall surface under all the equipment. A City Hall posting said the current play structures will stay put since they have some useful play life left. The fence around the playground, pavilion, and storage shed will also be replaced as part of the project.
The playground’s parking lot will be redesigned to be more functional for visitors. A one-way lot will be featured with a new entrance off Race Street and the exit onto Sherman Street.
Construction is to begin this week and last for approximately two months. The playground will be closed during this time to ensure the safety of children and the construction workers on site.
A notice to proceed to the contractor was given on Monday. The expected completion date is Aug. 30.
