State COVID hospitalizations jump


HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Tuesday reported 1,538 new cases, the highest one-day amount in three days. The state also reported that Tioga County is now reporting a high level of cases, the first county in Pennsylvania to report such a designation in six weeks.

The state reported 538 residents hospitalized, up 37 from Monday and the biggest one-day jump since Jan. 14. Those in intensive care units numbered 69, unchanged from the previous day.

Clinton County reported two new cases for a total of 9,071. Centre County increased by 15 for a total of 35,518 and Lycoming County reported 17 new cases for a total of 28,582.

The state reported six new deaths as the Clinton County figure remained at 126.
