Owners of old Dickey School offer building to City
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The owners of the former Dickey School on S. Fairview Street in Lock Haven have offered to donate the massive structure to the City of Lock Haven.
City Manager GregWilson read a newly received letter at City Council’s meeting Monday night, the letter penned by Robert Maguire and Micah Clausen, owners of Dickey Realty LLC. They purchased the former elementary school earlier this year with the intention, they wrote, of “donating it to a worthy recipient that would benefit the community.” The letter said that “It has been brought to our attention that the City of Lock Haven is considering building a new building that would better suit their needs.”
The letter offered to donate the old school to the city at the end of 2022 and “in the meantime rent the facility to the City of Lock Haven for $1 per month.” They wrote, “We can think of no better recipient for the benefit of everyone in the community than the City of Lock Haven itself.”
Council Monday night offered no response but instead voted to pass the offer on to the Lock Haven Redevelopment Authority to determine if the authority would be interested in pursuing the matter. There was no comment at the meeting relative to the any plans for the city to build a new building, as expressed in the letter.
