Homecoming Friday Night with CMVT

FARWELL – The last thing Bucktail football coach Bruce Ransom wants to deal with besides losing, is seeing more players go on the injury list. This is one thing at Bucktail supporters all pray for that Buck athletes stay healthy throughout the season, no matter what sport it is.
Bucktail (0-6) started the season with 25 players on the roster and going into week 7 of the high school football season they are down to 17. For Bucktail, that means not only on one side of the ball but both sides.
Last Saturday Bucktail dressed 19 players. Within the first quarter of play, two players were lost as Canton won 46-20. Less than a handful of plays and Canton was leading 20-0 at the end of the first quarter. Bucktail fullback junior Anthony Intallura left the game, as senior Aaron Ransdorf was the only running back left. Canton’s first team just scored with ease as they scored on six possessions as they only had one first down in the first half. Canton did pull the first team out with 3:30 left in the second quarter.
Bucktail was able to make some positive things happen as senior quarterback Blake Gavlock hit junior Josh Knauff for a 33 yard touchdown pass on fourth down with two seconds left before halftime, 40-6 Canton. Gavlock was 3 for 3 for a total of 39 yards.
In the second half it was handing the ball to Ransdorf as he ran for over 105 yards on 35 carries. Early in the third quarter, Ransdorf broke one for a 47 yard touchdown as he added the 2 point conversion. Canton would answer right back on the next drive with a touchdown, making it 46-14 Canton. Ransdorf would score again on a one yard touchdown with 11:00 left in the fourth quarter. Both teams showed positive things on defense for the rest of the game.
Bucktail’s big game at home this Friday night is against Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech (1-6). CMVT is coming off its first win, 20-6 last Saturday over District Two’s Holy Cross (0-6). It is also homecoming for Bucktail as well as the beginning of the Flaming Foliage Festival. The Homecoming Parade will be held Thursday evening starting at 6 p.m.
