Multiple projects in the Clinton County economic loop
MACKEYVILLE, PA – There are four pending economic projects in Clinton County at the present time, according to the annual development report from Mike Flanagan, President/CEO of the Clinton County Economic Partnership.
Flanagan gave an update on the four at the annual meeting of the Partnership’s membership held at the Clinton County Fairground pavilion Wednesday evening.
His report included word that an onsite meeting was held last week at the new Croda site in the William Garbrick Sr. Lamar Township Business Park. Attending he said were state and local officials. Croda Inc. had purchased the former BJ Services facility in June. Flanagan said Croda plans are for a “little bit different operation” from work done at the present Croda facility in Bald Eagle Township. He said it should be about a year and a half until the renovations are completed and manufacturing begins.
Flanagan said planning continues on two proposals for the Keating area of western Clinton County: a $400 million gas petro plant proposed by KeyState Opportunity and an Apex Clearn Energy proposal for a large solar panel field, not far from the planned Keystone project.
He also gave an update on the Renovo Energy Center natural gas-to-electricity plant planned for the north side of Renovo, the former Renovo rail yards. He said prospective investors visited the site and met with local officials last week. He said he was “cautiously optimistic” site work will begin in the near future.
Flanagan reported a 6.2% county unemployment rate in July, the same as June; also that the relocated state Fine Wine and Spirits store should open at its new Clinton Plaza site off Walnut Street in late October or so.
