Thomas “Lee” Schenck – Obituary

Thomas “Lee” Schenck quietly passed away on Thursday, May 6th 2021, with his family by his side. Lee was born July 21, 1949, in Renovo, PA. During his lifetime, Lee would live in various locations but only felt his true home to be in the beautiful mountainous area of Lycoming County.

Lee is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Dana (Hold) Schenck.  He was the truly loving father of Dana Schenck-Welshans, Lee M. Schenck, and Tena D. (Schenck) Miller and his two wonderful son-in-laws: Seth Welshans and Kirk Miller. Lee was blessed with three adoring grandchildren: Eliza Welshans, Maverick Welshans, and Bo Miller. They will always remember the rides on his tractor, his hidden stashes of sweets and the love he taught them to show to others. Lee will always be remembered for the love that he had for his family. They were his true purpose in life.  He is also survived by his older brother, Richard Schenck of Haneyville, PA.

Lee was the previous owner of the Mt. Top Inn from 1981 to 2019. Anyone who visited him at the restaurant will remember him for his uncanny ability to remember the locations of trails, hunting cabins, forgotten landmarks, and other hidden gems within the Clinton and Lycoming County wilds. Lee was often sought out by travelers for his detailed stories of the local areas.

It was often said that Lee had the knack of making every person he met feel like they were a true friend. Every person who was fortunate enough to spend time with Lee is familiar with his love for sharing his incredible, yet true, stories.

Those that knew him well will fondly remember Lee as an avid lover of the outdoors with an adoration for all of God’s little creatures. Though he enjoyed hunting, he was very fond of the ever-elusive groundhogs that he spent so much time observing while appreciating nature. Lee always believed that family are those in your life who bring you joy, love and happiness, regardless of whether or not they are related to you.

Following Lee and the family’s request, services will be held privately.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Moriarty Funeral Home & Crematory, 112 E. Church St., Lock Haven, PA 17745.
