LHU Men’s Wrestling soars to victory
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Behind tech falls from Anthony Noto, Wyatt Henson and Lucas Kapusta, the Bald Eagles won all seven contested bouts on the night, and the Lock Haven men’s wrestling team soared to victory over longtime local-rival Bloomsburg, 48-0, in Mid-American Conference (MAC) action.
The shutout marked Lock Haven’s first since the 2018-19 season.
The Bald Eagles won all 10 bouts tonight (Thursday, Nov. 14) and picked up bonus-point victories in six-of-seven contested matches.
Nick Stampoulos, Caden Dobbins and James Lledo all won by major decision, and Ethan Miller closed out the night with a hard-fought 5-1 decision at 285.
Lock Haven also benefitted from three forfeits on the night as Sean Logue (125), Tyler Stoltzfus (174) and Colin Fegley (184) were credited with wins.
Ranked 17th in the nation at 133 pounds, Noto put the Bald Eagles up 11-0 with a 17-2 (1:37) tech fall over Major Lewis. The win was the 91st of Noto’s career as he pushes closer to the 100-win club.
Henson and Kapusta rattled off back-to-back tech falls at 141 and 149, respectively as the three consecutive tech falls stretched The Haven lead to 21-0 after four bouts. Henson, ranked No. 25, improved to 5-0 on the season and recorded his 22nd career tech fall, which ties him for fifth all-time.
Stampoulos and Dobbins posted back-to-back majors at 157 and 165, and Lledo jumped up a weight class to 197 pounds and picked up a major of his own.
The match marked Lock Haven’s first dual of the season, the Bald Eagles’ 2024-25 home-opener and the first Mid-American Conference dual this year. With the victory, The Haven moved to 1-0 (1-0 MAC, 1-0 MAC East).
The victory also marked the 10th straight over the Huskies (0-4, 0-2 MAC).
