DA says no probe at present into reported supervisor burglary at Lamar Township municipal building
ROTE, PA – A Lamar Township resident identified as the officer in charge of the township police department claims the township municipal building in Rote was burglarized and is accusing the township supervisors with involvement.
Martin Salinas, a retired state police officer, issued a release Friday as reported by the Lock Haven Express. The release claimed that that “on or about March 17…the Lamar Township Police Department was burglarized by and/or under the authority of the Lamar Township supervisors.”
Salinas, an unsuccessful candidate for township supervisor in 2019 and a supervisor candidate again in this May’s primary, claimed the supervisors illegally entered and/or allowed to be entered the police department to persons unauthorized to do so. The statement said “They also illegally accessed criminal justice computers, accessing criminal documents and information to non-authorized personnel.” Those alleged actions, according to the release, resulted in compromised evidence resulting in the non-prosecution of at least two felony cases.
The release said the matter had been referred to state police and the office of Clinton County District Attorney Dave Strouse for investigation. The D-A told therecord-online Monday that “The DA’s office confirmed that there is currently no burglary investigation into the Lamar Township supervisors, and any press release to that effect was not authorized by myself or my office.”
