LOCK HAVEN, PA – Barring a candidacy from an independent later this year, two incumbent Clinton County row officers are unopposed for a third term in office. Tuesday of this week was the deadline to file to run in the county’s May primary and Republican treasurer Michelle Kunes and Democratic coroner Zach Hanna have no opponents from either party.

Four Keystone Central School Board seats are on the ballot and three incumbents have filed, unopposed, for re-election. They are Region II, Elisabeth Lynch; Region V, board president Tracy Smith; and Region VII, Roger Elling. No one filed a petition in Region IX, the Renovo area. Eric Probert is the incumbent, but he said last month he would not seek a second 4-year term.

Clinton County Voter Registrar Maria Boileau said Thursday there are a number of contests with multiple candidates and a drawing for position on the ballot will be held Wednesday, March 17 at noon in the county’s Piper Building. Among those are two Democratic candidates for mayor of Beech Creek, Melvin Coakley and Justin Kline; there are no GOP candidates listed for Beech Creek mayor.

There are no GOP candidates for Lock Haven city council, where three seats are on the ballot and Republican Rick Conklin is in the final year of his present 4-year term. Three Democrats have filed nominating petitions: council vice-president Steve Stevenson, Barbara Masorti and newcomer Alexander Di Costanzo. Longtime Mill Hall Mayor Tom Bossert is the lone candidate for that post, either party, in the spring primary.

In Renovo it appears there will be a contest for mayor in November. Incumbent mayor Tom Tarantella Jr. is on the Democratic ballot and Bucktail High School boys’ basketball coach Gene Bruno is the lone candidate for the GOP nomination.
