Stanley Eugene Hartzler – Obituary
Stanley Eugene Hartzler, 61, of Mill Hall, passed away Friday, October 23, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Lancaster on October 31, 1958, he was the son of the late Eugene L. and Lois. A. Longenecker Hartzler.
Stan was a 1976 graduate of Elizabethtown High School.
On May 12, 1979 in Pine Grove, he married the former Sarah Ann Cooper, who survives.
He was a member of the Lock Haven Mennonite Church.
Stan had a passion for serving youth and was greatly honored to have been one of the founding members of the Bald Eagle Boys Camp. Since it’s founding 27 years ago, Stan was blessed to have had the opportunity to help so many young lives. As an example of his dedication, Stan recently continued his education by graduating from the Strengths based family workers credential course in 2018.
Beyond his commitment to his profession, Stan had a passion for serving Jesus and spending time with his family. He enjoyed hunting, grilling, singing, and traveling and was always up for an adventure with his grandchildren. Stan had a genuine interest in people and never met a stranger. His hearty laugh, kind heart, and energetic spirit will be missed by all.
In addition to his wife, Sarah, he is survived by six children and fourteen grandchildren: Sabrina (Manuel) Rodriguez and children, Savannah and Leonidas, of Beech Creek, Angela (Kevin) Blank and children Stella, Jabez and Hosea, of Uganda; Travis Hartzler and daughter, Zoey of Arlington, VA; Monica (Aquil) Martin and children Dominick and Desmond, of Mifflinburg; Brandon (Mariah) Hartzler and children, Aniyah, Bella, Hailey and Judah, of Turbotville, and Josh (Erica) Hartzler and children, Zane and Peyton, of Milton; five siblings: Joyce (Larry) Stauffer, Sharon (Ed) Medors, Linda (Ray) Halteman, Miriam (Earl) Zimmerman and Daniel (Judi) Hartzler.
In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by 5 children; Bradley, Jeremy, Faith, Charity, and Lavina.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 11 A.M. at the Blanchard Church of Christ, 161 Beach Street, Blanchard, PA 16826 with Pastor Dan Beiler officiating.
Burial will follow at Hays-Fearon-Bossert Cemetery, Beech Creek.
Friends and family will be received for a time of viewing at the church on Wednesday from Noon to 3 P.M. and 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. with an hour of viewing scheduled for Thursday from 10 A.M. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions for Stan may be made to the Bald Eagle Boys Camp.
