Lady ‘Cat Tennis Sweeps Jersey Shore, 5-0

tennisJERSEY SHORE – The Central Mountain girls’ tennis squad took their perfect record on the road to face backyard rival and came home with perfect 5-0 outing.

Carolina Carpernetti got things started by defeating Shore’s, Sam Machmer, 6-4, 6-2 in No. 1 singles action. Olivia Anastos followed on for CM at No. 2 singles shutting out Emilee Stetts, 6-0 in the first set, then stumbled to her host, 4-6 in the second set. Anastos then returned to her form to best Stetts, 6-0 in the final set. Kati Kwiatek wrapped up the singles segment dropping Jersey Shore’s Riley Frazier, 6-1, 6-2 in the battle of No. 3s.

Caitlyn Dale and Claire Long defeated the Lady Bulldog duo of Celia Shemoryand Hayley Shadle, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. The it got really interesting at No. 2 doubles when Bree Weaver and Ellie Gundy rallied late to get past Shore’s Rachel Hartman and Ama Lanks by wining the first set, 6-4 then dropping the second set 5-7, finishing up with a hard-fought 12-10 win in the tie-breaker to preserve the shutout for Central Mountain.

The win improves Central Mountain to 5-0 on the season while loss drops Jersey Shore to 1-3. CM nest will take to the road tomorrow, Sept. 10, 2020 to face Shikellamy.
