CM Netters Shut Out Lady Seals

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Central Mountain girls’ tennis team showed on Monday it again will be a team to be reckoned with in the Pennsylvania Heartland Athletic Conference. Coach Pete Wert’s team opened the season with a 5-0 victory of Selinsgrove.

All three singles players and both doubles teams won in two sets each. Both number one Carolina Carpenetti and number two Olivia Anastos trailed in their second sets before rallying for wins. Carpenetti had to overcome three set points in her second set to prevail.

Coach Wert was pleased with the showing, noting that he liked that some of his players were under pressure and responded with wins. And he lauded his number two doubles team, Claire Long and Ellie Gundy, picking up 6-0, 6-0 wins in their first varsity play; also Kati Kwiatek at number three singles as she recorded 6-1, 6-0 in her first varsity singles match.

CM will continue a busy week, Tuesday at Mifflinburg, home Thursday with Williamsport and home Friday with Montoursville, all 4 p.m. starts.
