Clinton County Court May Jury Selection Cancelled
LOCK HAVEN – Jury selection for Clinton County residents scheduled for May 8 has been cancelled. President Judge Craig P. Miller this week issued the cancellation order due to Gov. Wolf’s extension of the state’s “stay at home order” until May 8. The court order also continued all cases scheduled on that date to July 10.
The local court’s release said: Jurors who were notified to be present on May 8, 2020 are under no obligation to appear and their names will not automatically be called for any future juries. However, those names will be returned to the list of qualified jurors who may be randomly picked for future jury service.
Clinton County Court has operated on a scaled-back schedule, in line with a state Supreme Court directive as part of the Pennsylvania response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The local court has been conducting emergency actions such as guardianships and emergency and temporary protection from abuse matters. Sheriff Kerry Stover is still able to sell concealed carry permits.
County Judges Miller and Michael Salisbury, along with court administrator Don Powers and assistant administrator Judy Coder have continued to work fulltime at the courthouse, while secretaries are working from home. Four court-related employees have been furloughed, according to information provided by the court.
