Geisinger Buys Large Plot off Route 220 in McElhattan

McELHATTAN – Danville-based Geisinger has purchased better than three acres of vacant land between Route 220 and Fritz Road in McElhattan, Wayne Township. The sale for $800,000 was recorded in the Clinton County Court House on Friday, March 6, the sellers James and Laurie Lauer of Jersey Shore.

There is no word so far on the health care provider’s plans for the 3.3 acre site. A spokesman in Geisinger’s Danville Media Relations Office said he would be getting back to therecord-online.

The purchase is Geisinger’s second in Clinton County in the last year and a half. Geisinger in late 2018 paid $1.93 million for land in Lock Haven at the intersection of Spring and W. Fourth streets. Preliminary work has begun there to build the Geisinger Medical Clinic.

Geisinger already has a presence in Wayne Township, where Geisinger Jersey Shore operates its Urgent Care at McElhattan, in close proximity to the new land acquisition.

The new purchase, just east of the McElhattan McDonalds, is about a quarter mile from the nearby UPMC Outpatient Center. That facility, in the former Bald Eagle Factory Outlets, opened in January of 2018.
