BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Standout running back Chantz Swartz (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns in an attempt to spark an offensive comeback, but a first-half deficit was too much to overcome Saturday on the road, as the Lock Haven University football team (1-7, 0-5 PSAC East) fell to local-rival Bloomsburg University (3-5, 2-3 PSAC East), 54-27, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action.

Bloomsburg jumped out to a 38-0 lead at halftime, thanks to 21 second-quarter points. The Bald Eagles did all they could and rallied for 27 second-half points, but the early deficit was too much for Lock Haven to overcome, and the attempt to rally past the Huskies and spoil their Homecoming party fell short.

Swartz entered the game as one of the league’s top rushers and proved why today with another big game that helped him take the rushing lead outright. He ran for 135 yards on 22 carriers, and after today, he now leads the PSAC in rushing yards per game with 100.13.

Another headlining individual effort came from rookie defensive back Levi Engle (Williamstown, Pa./Williams Valley), who recorded an interception for the third straight game. He now has four picks which ties him for the league-lead.
Kyle Knight (Myerstown, Pa./Eastern Lebanon) was 12 of 19 passing for 197 yards. He threw one touchdown and rushed for another.

Jalen Jackson (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) made five catches for 81 yards, Christan Drayton III (Allentown, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) had 54 yards receiving on three catches and Ahmir Edwards (Philadelphia/Ben Franklin) hauled in a 35-yard TD catch.
Alex Welch (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) made a team-high 10 tackles and Kahari Whitfield (Reading, Pa./Reading) finished with nine. Austin Barber (Johnstown, Pa./Greatern Johnstown) registered eight tackles and Engle made six to go along with his interception.

This was the first of two straight PSAC East games on the road for Lock Haven. Next week Saturday, Nov. 2, the Bald Eagles will head to Shippensburg University for a Week 9 PSAC East contest.
