Lady ‘Cats Go 2-1 at Home Tourney
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – After a rough start, the Central Mountain girls’ tennis squad finished their home tournament with a 2-1 effort.
The Lady Wildcats fell to District 6 power, Altoona, 4-1 with Ella Talbot and Caitlyn Dale edging Altoona’s Allyson Hollingsworth and Sophia Caputo, 7-6, 3-6, 12-10 for CM’s lone win in the match at No. 2 doubles.
The Lady ‘Cats rebounded in their second match, sweeping Mifflin County, 5-0 with Kendall McCluskey, Carolina Carpenetti and Kati Kwiatek picking up singles wins followed by Natalie Brown and Gianna Renzo along with Claire Long and Celia Stern picking up wins in doubles action.
Central Mountain closed out the day with another sweep this time defeating Indiana, 5-0. This time in singles, it was McCluskey, Olivia Anastos and Kwiatek collecting wins. Brown teamed up with Jesse Piergallini at No. 1 doubles while Caitlyn Dale and Ella Talbot closed the shutout at No. 2 doubles.
The Lady Wildcats are now 10-2 on the season and will host Jersey Shore in a makeup match tomorrow, Sept. 19, 2019.
