Norris J. “Moose” Houser, Sr. – Obituary
Norris J. “Moose” Houser, Sr., 83, of South Renovo died Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Bucktail Medical Center. Born in Philipsburg on May 2, 1936 he was the son of the late Norris C. and Helen E. (Anderson) Houser.
Moose graduated from Lock Haven High School where he was an extremely talented basketball, baseball, and football player. He moved forward to play football at Florida State University and later inducted into the Clinton County Sports Hall of Fame.
After leaving college, he returned home to marry the love of his life, Marcia Saylor, on May 5, 1955. His greatest joy was creating a family with his wife. The couple shared over 57 years of marriage together when Marcia passed away on September 24, 2012.
Throughout his life, Moose worked at various locations including the Clinton County Paper Co., Berwick Fabricating, and Wayne Township Landfill. In his spare time, he coached football for many years at Bucktail High School and was very active in supporting his family’s various sports teams throughout the years. Moose loved golfing, fishing and cheering on his favorite sports teams, the Phillies and the Eagles.
Moose is survived by four sons, Robert (Debbie) Houser of S. Renovo, Norris Jack (Lisa) Houser Jr. of S. Renovo, Jay (Margaret) Houser of Philadelphia, and Ronald Houser of S. Renovo; three daughters, Connie (Lee) Linberg of Hyner, Joni (Mike) McMillen of Altoona, and Susan (Troy) Stone of Williamsport; two sisters, Cheryl (Ron) Hess of Wartrace, TN, and Doris (Clarence) Hoffner of Allport; 18 grandchildren, Justine Lynch, Nicole Dwyer, Luke (Samantha) Linberg, Matthew (Katie) Linberg, Patrick (Laura) Linberg, Joseph (Megan) Houser, Robert (Ashley) Houser, Sean and Jennifer Houser, Allison Houser, Bryan (Elyce) McMillen, Katie (Sarah) McMillen, Gordon Houser, Jessica Stone, Molly (Kyle) Stone, Elaina Stone, Maggie and Felicia Houser; 13 great-grandchildren, Liam, Rory, and Brian Dwyer, Luke II and Joshua Linberg, Rachel and Walker Linberg, Lyla Linberg, Blake and Gavin Houser, and Ethan Landry and Ainzlee Houser.
In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Moose was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Conrad Houser; and one brother, Zane Houser.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 5th St., in Renovo, with Martha Sykes officiating. A visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
