Shore Rallies over Clinton 6-1
OLD LYCOMING TOWNSHIP – The Clinton 9-10 softball all-stars had a familiar foe in the loser’s bracket contest at Old Lycoming Little League on Wednesday evening. They faced neighboring Jersey Shore/GSV and it was a tight, hard-fight contest for four innings.
Both teams scored single runs early knotting the score at 1 all after the first inning.
Caitlyn Watson scored for Clinton on some savvy base running taking advantage of a moment of indecision by Shore.
Alexis Strouse started on the mound for Clinton and was relieved in the fourth inning by Watson who finished out the contest.
In the fourth inning, Shore found their offense, supported by aggressive base running and a couple of Clinton miscues,they tacked on four more runs. Then the Orange and Black managed another score in the fifth inning to close out their offense.
Though Clinton fought back, making some good defensive plays, they could not muster any additional offense to battle back.
With the loss Clinton is eliminated from the District 12 tournament.
