Warriors Down Wildcats, 67-52

MONTOURSVILLE – The Central Mountain boys’ basketball team was on the road to face Montoursville Monday night, coming home with a 67-52 loss.

The Wildcats fell behind early when Montoursville built a 20-9 lead in the first quarter. Central Mountain then rallied in the second quarter to outscore the Warriors, 17-13 but was still trailing 33-26 at the half.

Montoursville kept inching ahead of CM in the third quarter with a 15-11 effort to hold a 44-31 lead after three quarters of play. The Warriors kept their momentum in the final period outpacing the Central Mountain 19-15 for the 67-52.

“We played a tough game and took an early punch from Montoursville,” said CM head coach, Tyler Bardo, “Credit to them for their ability to shoot the ball. They hit some tough shots consistently. Of course we have things to work on. We need to build on this effort tonight,” Bardo added.

CM senior Collin Jones was the Wildcat’s leading scorer once more with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Conner Soo added 9 points to the cause while Aiden Major contributed 8 points. JT Pents scored 6 with Cayde McCloskey and Jake Skrtich each scoring 3 and Tanner Lavelle had 2.

The Wildcats are now 3-11 on the year, 3-6 in PHAC play. Montoursville is 13-2.
Central Mountain will next travel to Shikellamy (4-13) on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019.
