Mark S. Wertz, Sr. – Obituary

Mark S. Wertz, Sr., 75, of Westport passed away Friday, November 23, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Noyes Township, Clinton County on February 14, 1943, he was the son of the late Clyde E. and Lucy A. Fantasky Wertz.

Mark was a graduate of Renovo High School.

He then served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

On December 20, 1969, he married his love, the former Elaine Crossley, who survives.

Mark was a heavy equipment operator for the Pennsylvania Department of Forestry, retiring in 2009.

He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mill Hall.

Mark loved the outdoors, whether it be hunting, gardening or cutting down trees which he was quite good at.  He also cherished the times he spent playing with his granddaughter, Teagan.

In addition to his wife, Elaine Wertz of Westport, he is survived by three sons: Mark S. (Heather) Wertz, Jr. of Lock Haven, Tracy (Emma) Hills of Utah and Barry Hills of Westport; two brothers, Clyde and Larry Wertz; four sisters: Evelyn “Em”,  Sue, Virginia “Babe”, and Rene; five grandchildren: Dalton, Joey, Hunter, Teagan and Alisha; and a great granddaughter, Scarlet.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Karl Hills and three brothers: Walter, Roger and Roy Wertz.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 6 P.M. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1 Homestead Dr., Mill Hall.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington.
