Blanche L. Smith – Obituary
Blanche L. Smith, 90, McConnellsburg, PA , formerly of Rote, died September 9, 2018 in Chambersburg, PA. Born August 30, 1928 in Marion Twp., Centre Co. she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rebecca Lucas Shortledge. On Sept.12, 1947 she married Donald L. Smith who died March 30, 1990. Blanche enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, watching baseball and football and being with her grandchildren. She was a former treasurer at the Salona United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter: Betty Jane (Eugene) Johnson, Elverson, PA, one son: Larry L. (Linda) Smith, Warfordsburg, PA , five grandchildren: Christopher ( Sherry) Johnson, Lansdal e, PA; Lee (Jennifer) Smith, St. Thomas, Matthew (Carrie) Johnson, North Coventry ; Brad Smith, Hancock, MD and Kendra (Zachary ) Cook, Sinking Spring, PA, ten great- grandchildren: Stephen, Samuel, Caroline, Brylee, Logan, Callum, Lilth, Benjamin, Therese and Miriam.
She was preceded in death by: two sisters: Ollie Vonada and Janet Thomas and one brother: Thomas Shortledge.
A funeral service honoring the life of Blanche L. Smith will be held Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 at 12 Noon in the Dean K. Wetzler, Jr. Funeral Home, 320 Main St., Mill Hall, PA with Rev. Thomas Jones officiating. Interment, Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall, PA
Friends will be received in the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the times of services.
