Lady ‘Cats fall to Mifflin County, 13-9
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – It was a tough season opening game for the Lady Wildcat softball tam as they fell to District 6 rival, Mifflin County 13-5.
The Lady Huskies used a hit, four walks and a CM error to jump out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Mifflin County followed up that effort with another run in the the third inning to go ahead 6-0.
Central Mountain regrouped in the third inning and used a triple from Josie Dershem, a walk from Caitlyn Brush, the first of three base hits on the night from Skylar Smith and singles from both Jenny Skow and Cassidy Brush to score three runs to close the margin to 6-3 with Mifflin County.
The Lady Huskies tacked on 2 more runs in the fourth inning, another in the sixth and four more in the top of the seventh to close out their scoring at 13 runs.
The Lady ‘Cats tacked on single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to set the 13-5 final.
Caitlyn Brush worked the circle for 1 2/3 innings while Madison finished out the game as pitcher for CM.
Alexa Schultz had a pair of base hits and Knepp had a single for CM in the game.
Next up for Central Mountain will be a road trip to Williamsport on Tuesday, March 27, 2018.
